We take our inspiration and approach from highly regarded early approaches to teaching and learning including Montessori, Steiner, Reggio Emilia and Forest School

Our seasonal activity boxes are filled with a variety of child-led and nature based creative activities and projects, and cover the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) key learning areas.
Delivered through your letterbox or available to download, each box will help you work towards bringing these educational approaches together through child-led creativity and blended learning.
Let’s start at the very beginning. What is Montessori, who was Steiner, how does Reggio Emilia work, why is Forest School so popular and how do we bring these approaches together to deliver child-led creativity and blended learning?

Benefits of Connecting with Nature

There are huge benefits from giving our children freedom to spend time in nature and explore the natural world
Playing outside improves children’s physical fitness, exposing them to Vitamin D, plenty of fresh air, and building physical strength, laying healthy foundations for later life. Evidence also demonstrates that good physical health promotes better mental health.
Connecting with nature also brings educational benefits, with research showing outdoor learning and exposure to nature improves children’s ability cognitively in academic studies, as well as in team work, concentration and self-discipline.
Natural environments encourage imaginative and varied play, beyond the confines of artificially constructed playgrounds.
Giving Back
In the UK, nearly 33%, or one third of all children, are living in poverty. In numbers, that is 4 million children, and it’s estimated that by 2022, this will rise to 5.2 million.* As educators and parents, we believe we must do more to raise awareness around this issue
By investing in a Peas and Pod box, you’re helping to support organisations who make a real difference to the lives of children and their families. We are delighted to be supporting Little Village, who make it as easy as possible for local families to support one another during times of need. £1 from every Peas and Pod physical box sold will go to Little Village to support families who are experiencing poverty, challenging times and social isolation in London.
They collect great quality donations of clothes, toys and kit for babies and children up to the age of 5, and gift these donations on to local families who are dealing with really challenging circumstances – homelessness, unemployment, low wages and domestic violence. Their dream is that no child in the capital grows up without essential items of clothing, toys and equipment.

Environmental Awareness
We want to help children understand the need to care for our beautiful planet and, in turn, their future
Our boxes are themed according to the seasons, to help connect children with nature and the natural rhythm of the year, enabling them to appreciate the natural beauty of the Earth.
Wherever possible, we source natural materials that are recyclable, biodegradable or reusable and you won’t see any glitter or plastic in our boxes or projects.
We are proud of our environmental policy to only partner with ethical and sustainable businesses who share our ethos, understanding the importance of looking after our environment responsibly, for now and for future generations.
