This is a nice and simple bread you can make with your child, and is delicious served with daal and yoghurt. Children love measuring out the ingredients and using cups and spoons. This recipe appears in our Diwali box, which you can see here.

You’ll need:
- 1 cup plain flour
- pinch of salt
- 1/4 cup warm water
- olive oil or ghee
How to do it:
- Measure the flour and salt into a large bowl then add the warm water, a little at a time as you might not need it all
- Knead well on a floured board and roll it flat with a rolling pin or a bottle. Heat a frying pan greased lightly with a little olive oil or ghee
- When the pan starts to smoke, put in the chapati for 1 minute then turn and cook for a minute on the other side
