The winter solstice marks the shortest day of the year – celebrate by lighting candles to bring hope and reflection.

You’ll need:

  • Bees wax
  • A wick
  • Old can

How to do it:

  1. Melt the wax in a can placed in boiling water. Great care must be taken here. I tied a string handle on as it’s easier to remove from the water
  2. Hold the wick and dip into the hot wax. Lift out and allow to drip dry and then dip again. It will take lots of dipping to build up the layers
  3. We made a table decoration from the organic shaped candles we dipped by hot gluing them to a pebble . This would be a lovely Christmas gift to give!

This is a lovely Waldorf song to sing as you dip:

Quiet, quiet do not make a sound

Quiet, quiet do not make a sound

Holding now the string so tight, we will make some candle light

Quiet, quiet do not make a sound
